Height is another thing to consider when choosing a bar stool. Stools come in various heights and oftentimes people purchase a stool or even a large number of stools only to realize that the stools are either too tall or too short for the bar or bar table for which they are intended. Unless you are planning on purchasing an adjustable stool, you should measure the height of your bar or bar table. Your stool should sit under it leaving 10 to 13 inches for leg room and easy movement.
Arms or Armless, Back or Backless?Stools that will be used frequently or for long periods of time (dining, game rooms, commercial bars, etc.) should typically include arms AND backs to increase comfort and decrease stress on your back and shoulders. If your horizontal (floor space) is limited, you may choose armless. Backless stools are great when you need occasional extra seating or in situations where you don’t want to obstruct a view with tall backs.
Wooden Bar Stools. By far the most popular type of stool is the wooden bar stool. Wood is undeniably attractive, and it has a natural look. There are all kinds of different styles of wooden stools. Some are simply just 4 legs and a round seat. Others look just like a normal chair with longer legs. One of the best things about a wooden bar stool is that they can be stained or painted any color you want.
