Bar stools are becoming a must-have piece of home furniture and are quickly making their way into homes all across the world. With many homes having bar height counters or even a built-in bar, the demand for high quality bar stools is now greater than ever. Many office furniture manufacturers are catching on to this trend and have begun mass producing many different makes and models. With the wide selection available, there are a number of factors to consider before making the splurge to purchase multiple stools.
Style, the style of your bar stool will be dictated in large part by the personal taste and the décor of the room in which the stool will be used. For example, a plastic stool will look terribly out of place when placed next to a beautiful cherry bar. Likewise, an ultra modern stool would look out of place in an Old English style pub. You want your stool to match and blend in or accent the rest of your room`s décor.
Quality, regardless of the style or material used to make up your bar stool, you are going to want the best quality stool you can find. Look for both quality of material and workmanship. The higher the quality of the product the longer it will last and the more useful it will prove to be. Each type of material whether it is plastic, wood or metal comes in various qualities of the material. While cheaper stools may seem like a good deal, if they lack the quality to last they will soon end up in the scrap pile and you will end up paying more to replace them than you will spend purchasing a higher quality material in the first place.
Leather: Most ’’Leather’’ that you will find in your bar stool search is actually fabric-backed vinyl. Due to the extra time and cost required for real leather seating, the price of the bar stool will generally be $50 to $150 MORE than a comparable vinyl but will last much longer and feel much better due to its ability to ’’Breathe’’. Vinyl is prone to tearing, cracking and warping more so than fabric or leather. Synthetic suede fabrics are a much better option if this is a concern. Sun, dry air, excessive heat and cold as well as exposure to certain chemicals or cleaners can also destroy vinyl.
